Ant Agent Software For Mac Rating: 4,4/5 3172 reviews

Agent Versions and Installation Options

The Mac Agent is available for workstations, and depending on the release cycle there may be two versions available for download from the Dashboard.

Garmin ANT Agent detects any paired Garmin devices in range and automatically downloads fitness data to your computer and transfers the data to Garmin Connect. Trusted Windows (PC) download Garmin Training Center with ANT Agent 3.5.1. Virus-free and 100% clean download. Get Garmin Training Center with ANT Agent alternative downloads.

  • Release Candidate (RC) : Extensive testing goes into each Release Candidate before it is made available for download but users should be aware that there may be minor bugs.
  • General Availability (GA) : The latest production Agent release.

So at least for the time being it looks like users of the Garmin 405 must make a choice - either run the Ant Agent in native Mac and deal with an inferior version of the Training Center, or bail on any use in the native Mac environment and rely totally upon the Windows installation. If anyone has a better option, please let me know. The garmin dongle is a USB. Garmin has software for Intel-based Mac OS 10.6.8 or later for ANT agent but the Ipad uses different software. I guess that my question should be, is there a work around for this. This is what Garmin has to say: Garmin ANT Agent allows you to transfer fitness data from compatible Garmin ANT devices to and from your computer. 1- start ANT Agent. 2- a window pops up telling you there is an upgrade available, 'now' or 'later' are your choices. 3- pick 'now', it tells you a restart will be required. 4- install the new software. 5- click the offered 'restart' button when it is finished. 6- computer reboots, ANT Agent starts. 7- you are now back at step 2 again.

Agent Installation Options

The Agent is installed in one of three ways:

  • Manual Installation: download the Agent from the Dashboard and run the installation wizard on each device.
  • Site Installation Package: create a one-click Remote Worker installer then send the package to the user to self-deploy. A Remote Worker download is also available through the Add Device option of the Graphical Dashboard.
  • Monitoring Agent Push: push a Monitoring Agent to an unmonitored device when it is discovered as part of an Network Discovery scan

Version 1 of the Agent supports Mac Computers from OS X 10.5 (Leopard), with version 2 (including Realtime Architecture) only available for those computers running OS X 10.7 (Lion) or later.

24x7 Frequency Behavior: Mac Agent 2.1.0

When selecting a 5 or 15 minute frequency, the Mac Agent synchronizes with the Dashboard every 30 minutes to upload results, retrieve updated settings etc.

For 5 or 15 minute frequencies, every time a Check runs a comparison is made with its previous result.

Where a change is detected, this is immediately communicated back to the Dashboard (please note that only the results are uploaded, this does not trigger a full synchronization).

If there is no change, the Check results are uploaded during the next synchronization cycle.

Manually Install the Agent

There are three steps to manually install the Monitoring Agent on a Mac workstation.

Download the required version of the Mac Agent to download from the Agent menu.

Double-click on the downloaded DMG file to open the package

Double-click on the Mac Agent PKG to run the installation wizard

Enter the password of the user you logged into the Mac under when prompted to authorize the install

Navigate to the Utilities directory and double-clicking on the Advanced Monitoring Agent.

Enter the Agent Key credentials as provided in the registration email and complete the Proxy server settings (if required)

Populate the Description of the workstation and select the Client and Site combination it is to be registered against from the relevant drop-down. The Device Name is automatically added.

Once complete the workstation will appear in the Workstation Monitoring section of the Dashboard with its assets available in Asset Tracking.

To reduce the volume of notification displayed to the end-user from our software and ensure all our installed applications have the required permissions, from Mac Monitoring Agent 3.4.0 RC we utilize Apple’s Mobile Device Management (MDM) framework.
To use this functionality, you must first request an Apple Push Notification certificate and upload this to your Dashboard. Once the certificate association is in place, we will prompt the end-user to enroll in our Mac Device Management service and apply the related profile when the Agent updates to version 3.4.0 RC or later.
Visit theMac Device Management section for further information.

Monitoring Agent Communication URLs

Mac install ant

Depending on the company's security policy a firewall or other web monitoring software may be deployed to filter internet connections to avoid any potential Agent communication issues, we would suggest allowing the URLs listed in the Agent Communication URLs section.

Automatically Added Automated Tasks

To consolidate Mac information under one pane of glass, we released Mac Agent 3.0 to General Availability in September 2018. This migrated the core functionality from Mac-MSP to Dashboard managed Automated Tasks.

As these Automated Tasks replaced the core Mac-MSP functionality, on February 28 2019, we discontinued the Mac-MSP infrastructure.

To ensure continued coverage on Mac-MSP enabled accounts, the system automatically adds the Automated Tasks associated with Mac-MSP functionality to any newly installed Agents or when upgrading an earlier Agent version to Mac Agent 3 or later.

The automatically added Automated Tasks include Extended Memory Testing, Purge Font Caches, Repair Permissions on Installed Packages and Run Managed Patch. Please reach out to us if you no longer require the automatic deployment of these Automated Tasks for your account.

Mac Agent v3.6.0 RC - Big Sur and support for Macs with new Apple Silicon processors

Mac Agent v3.6.0 RC introduced support for macOS 11 Big Sur and includes native support for Macs with new Apple Silicon processors. Some add-on features like AV will run in Rosetta 2 compatibility. We expect to have those ready in the near future, but the core Agent is ready today.

For technical reasons, the Agent is not a Universal 2 binary, so if you use Migration Assistant to transfer from an Intel Mac to and Apple Silicon Mac, please reinstall the RMM Agent to ensure the native version is used. Our installer will determine the correct package to install.

Dark Mode

When installed on a Mac running Mojave or later, the Mac Agent honors the Dark Mode settings where enabled on the computer.

The enrollment dialog does not current display in 10.15 (Catalina).

Mac Agents do not currently support the use of Monitoring Templates as part of the installation process. These templates may only be applied to Agents post-installation.

ANT USB Stick

We have received several inquiries concerning the hLine ANT USB Adapters. The adapter is comparable to the Garmin ANT+ USB Stick. It’s a USB 2.0 Stick which supports the ANT+ protocol. The stick can be used for PC and Mac. Further names used for this kind of stick are ANT2 or ANT USB2. Please do not confuse the stick with the (longer) ANT1 USB Stick. The ANT USB2 adapter is a nano stick.

This USB Adapter can be connected to an android mobile through the OTG Micro-B cable. This way you can use ANT also with your android mobile. You need to install two different APPs on your device before it is possible to use the adapter. Following APPs are required: ANT Radio Service and ANT USB Service. After the installation you can use the adapter with your phone.

If using a PC with Windows 7 or higher, no further driver installation is required. Windows automatically recognizes the adapter when inserting it. When using Windows 10 or XP a driver needs to be installed. You can find the driver here.

Ant Agent Software For Mac Download

If you are using a MAC it will work automatically. MAC recognizes the ANT Stick and all the software on a MAC that supports ANT Stick will work together with the stick.

Garmin uses the ANT-technology for several of their products. The Adapter works with the garmin products, which supports the ANT transmission
